1 PHASE ELECTRICAL

Objective
At the end of the program, trainees are expected to be able to:
• Carrying out domestic and industrial wiring.

• Carry out testing of single-phase electrical installations

• Carrying out fault finding work on single-phase electrical installations

• Perform single-phase electrical drawings

• Carry out electrical maintenance work.

 

Curriculum

The course curriculum prioritizes practical-oriented learning and emphasizes easy learning aspects of theory. The syllabus of this course is adapted from the NOSS program of the Malaysian Skills Development Department. The curriculum content is as follows:

 

• SINGLE PHASE DRAWING

• SINGLE PHASE WIRING

• SINGLE PHASE WIRING MAINTENANCE

• SINGLE PHASE MOTOR & MOTOR CONTROL INSTALLATION

• SINGLE PHASE ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES MAINTENANCE

• SINGLE PHASE WIRING TESTING AND COMMISSIONING

Career Opportunities

After trainees successfully complete the course, they have the opportunity to venture into careers such as:

• Electrical technicians in the public and private sectors

• Opening an electrical contractor company (EIC)-EIU

Electrical Skills Training in TVET

(Technical Education and Vocational Training)

 

Electrical skills training in TVET is designed to equip students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the fields of electrical and electronics. This program prepares skilled workers to meet the needs of the industry, whether in the construction, manufacturing, maintenance, or electrical engineering sectors.

 

1. Main Components of Electrical Skills Training in TVET

Basic Electrical Theory
- Basic electrical concepts (current, voltage, resistance, power).
- Ohm's law and electrical circuits.
- Electrical components (wires, switches, sockets, MCB, RCCB, etc.).
- Electrical safety and compliance with standards (such as IEC, IEEE, or local standards).

Practical Skills
- Electrical wiring (domestic & industrial).
- Installation and maintenance of electrical systems.
- Use of electrical measuring tools (multimeter, clamp meter, etc.).
- Repair of electrical and electronic equipment.
- Electrical control systems (PLC, motors, relays, etc.).

 

Electrical Codes & Regulations
- Understand national electrical regulations (example: MS IEC, Energy Commission).
- Compliance with the Electricity Act and safety guidelines.

 

Green Technology & Renewable Energy
- Solar PV system.
- Electrical energy efficiency.
- Sustainable electricity system management.

 

Automation & Control Systems
- PLC programming (Programmable Logic Controller).
- Basic robotics in electrical applications.
- SCADA and IoT systems in industry.

2. Level of Electrical Training in TVET
- Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level 1-3** – Electrical basics for new students.
- TVET Diploma** – More in-depth with industry applications.
- Advanced Diploma/Degree** – Electrical engineering with a focus on automation & energy.

 

3. Career Opportunities After Training
- Licensed electrician.
- Electrical maintenance technician.
